Holiday Jeer

Frigidly frolicking

Lights splash behind us

Hoping that this year

the spirit will find us

Giving is noble

And truly enriching

But it’s hard not to feel

The whole thing is worth ditching

Mythical figures

A nose that can glow

Life’s little distractions

All wrapped in a bow

Cookies and candy

And clean up galore

Tinsel the windows

Put bells on the door

Kindness is fleeting

Generosity staged

Kicked off on Thanksgiving

With shopping and rage

Life is the true gift

Love is the treasure

I’d rather express it

With things I can’t measure
