I believed your deep words and deeper heart

The soft looks that stoked that most primal passion

You spoke like centuries

Disarmed my sentries

A story encased in archaic amber

That I was slowly starting to remember

But lost it was unto the ages and rages of the modern

Outmoded, outlandish and ultimately outfoxed

But the box I keep of memories

Still holds that pulled thread

From when we first met

Yet no needle that could repair it and

I am left with only what unravelling begets

The quaver some would savor

playing out upon your lips

The words I’ve often heard

always near and well equipped

The sheen that can be seen

in your slowly welling eyes

A voice that shakes or softly breaks

as it treads ‘tween wails and cries

My heart once wrenched within your clench

for the tears you freely spread

But I’m not sure I can endure

forgiving you again

In Confidence

There is a whisper

Under the layers of nature

Or life

It has traveled so far

And is nearly lost

But I’ve heard it

Weaving itself so tight

To my ear

Up against the drum

And yet

It remains a whisper

Its soothing syllables

Reach inside

Like missing parts

The inflection of my soul

The round sounds of wholeness

I am awakened

From the terrible dream

That you have gone

Blown by the wind

The shuddering grass

Rocks with its kin

Like a turbulent mass

Limbs wave about

Victims of the gale

And without a doubt

Some may not prevail

The air in its whipping

Has no sense of goodwill

the limbs lose their gripping

Their fate now fulfilled

The clouds swiftly race

Across the drab sky

Hopefully chased

By a future more dry

In the grander scheme

It seems so very light

A friendly sort of greeting

Or a way to say goodnight

Yet upon it legends have been built

And evil curses broken

A closeness that fills in the words

Our mouths have never spoken

It can fill you so complete

While shedding not a thread

It can set a’spinnin

The most level of all heads

So wield your kiss with caution

Tread lightly with your lips

For it can bring a consequence

For which we’re unequipped

Sleepless Dreams

The cracks are filled with daylight

The curtains are no match

I feel the fatigue upon me

But the sleep won’t seem to catch

I’m dreaming now, eyes open

A story unsurpassed

But if I find my slumber

I’m not sure it could last

So now within a struggle

‘Twixt dreams and precious sleep

My eyes grow ever heavy

And I hope my dream will keep

With only closed eyes

And fingertips

He etches my face

Upon the windows glass

I stare from it

As if seeing something precious

A deep delight in the eyes

A sly grin ready to burst

With teeth

The brows are sensually relaxed

With a confidence

A knowing

My hair cascades just so

Around my face

Feigning a shyness

However my beaming cheeks

Betray the soft tendrils

Two tight apples

of unhidden joy

As he turns to me

Opening his eyes

His near sighing exhale

Dissolves into a smile

That forms like a reflex

I feel my face fall

Into formation

With his creation

When our eyes meet

Maiden of Asteria

She calls her woes up to the stars

And hopes that they will listen

There is promise in their lustre

And a peace in how they glisten

She sheds her tears in moonlight

For there they seem to glow

And as it wanes o’er coming days

Her sorrows likewise go

She whispers her dark secrets

To the planets she implores

Perhaps the power of their names

Is one that can restore

She makes her wish in darkness

For that is when it’s needed

Delivered to the heavens

So in the light of day it’s heeded

Cruel winds now toss me

so randomly I fly

Now my world has lost me

and barely blinked an eye

Amidst the gales I tumble

My memories now grow thin

And still my stomach rumbles

for all I could have been

The veins that once had fed me

are growing hard and brittle

I once wore proud my envy

but the remnants left are little

All has been released now

My purpose, shine, and grip

I guess that time is just how

I started on this trip

The calm within my stasis

made me believe in safety

but I cannot escape this

I have stopped trying lately

The things I can see from here

have frightened and surprised me

As I travel, pushing through fear

The currents hypnotize me

I shuddered in the gusty wind

where I once spent all my nights

and free is how my time will end

as I succumb in flight

12 Hundred Hours

That smile of coy wanting

Envelops me again within your essence

A climbing inner warmth

To ease away all that is not you

The spilled ink of rapture

To blot out all but us

To lock our eyes

And urge sweet giggles

Like the trickling drops

of an overflowing fountain

Each move we make

Clinging to the other’s

Like a shadow

And we are that

Always connected

Longing to rejoin within the perfect light
